Flower Photo: Daddy Longlegs on Viburnum Shrub

Daddy Longlegs Arachnid Macro Photo By Aquariann

Wooo, daddy, did I see a lot of critters at Killens Pond in Delaware last weekend! The first encounter I missed with my camera. Ogre yelled, "Not a branch! That is not a branch!" And by the time my brain registered it was a huge black snake sliding off the path and into the woods, it was too late as I was not brave enough to follow.

The second encounter was my favorite, the broad-headed skink I already shared on my Photography Field of Flowers blog. Not far from the little lizard was a turtle, who promptly hid in his shell when I turned my lens toward him.

There were bees and dragonflies, none of which stayed still long enough to get a good photo. And just as we were about to get in the car, I saw a tree with white flowers across the parking lot and had to investigate. It turned out to be a viburnum flowering shrub housing an intriguing model. As I child, I used to see daddy longlegs all the time skittering across the forest floor outside my best friend's home, but this is the first time I've ever seen an arachnid perched upon a flower.

How To Plant Your Own Post for Flower Friday:
The only rule to play is that you can only add one link per week! The post doesn't even have to mention flowers, but only ones that do will be eligible for being picked as a feature next week. I will be sharing my flower image on other blog hops, namely Wordless Wednesday, and welcome all family-friendly links from fellow bloggers. Crafters can even link up an Etsy listing or other shop product! But if you want to promote a prize, please add it to my Giveaway Chest Linky instead to entice more treasure hunters.

Please follow my blog through any of the social media icons in the upper right sidebar to receive a reminder to return next week. Adding my button or a text link to your own blog and sharing to your followers is also a fairy appreciated way to help my hop grow.

  8. What do u think the black snake was? I always hope to see a snake in the spring to signal a bountiful summer. No such luck on my end. That daddy long legs is way cool. Did it crawl on that virburnum shrub to make for a better shot?

Giveaway: Clear Quartz Dagger Earrings by WireQueen

EDIT: Giveaway is officially over! Congratulations to the randomly chosen 108th commenter, Andalene! Accessorize an outfit and rejuvenate your spirit at the same time! Michelle of WireQueen is bequeathing a beautiful pair of clear quartz earrings to one of my readers. The design is named "Midwife Healer" in honor of the midwife that delivered her second daughter. The four sided dagger beads are different lengths and embraced by sterling silver wrap with surgical steel earwires. She has already cleared the crystals, but if you ever need to recharge or remove unwanted energy, simply place in a window that is beaming with sunlight. Michelle believes that the Creator gave to all things a purpose, including gemstones. She covers as little of the "face" of the stone as possible, but still secures it safely in its setting. She has customers who are still wearing creations that are over 10 years old! She's been selling jewelry offline for years, but only recently began...

Jewelry Giveaway: Braided Bracelet by Rica Jewels

EDIT: Giveaway is officially over. Congratulations to Eugenie Wu for submitting the randomly-chosen 799th entry. Rica Jewels will email you within 24 hours with instructions on how to claim your prize. The winds of March are making me wonder why I haven't learned to properly braid my hair yet. Not only would my tresses get less tangled, but there are so many pretty patterns available online now. The only braid style I ever mastered was how to make friendship bracelets back in the 1980s. Daniela of Rica Jewels offers a much more intricate braided bracelet called the Kusma Bracelet. The mixed metal bracelet is made with silver, bronze and copper. The beautiful bracelet is 7" long and 0.4" width and can be bent gently on the edges to better fit the winner's wrist. Yes, you read that right. Daniela's giving the above bracelet away to one of my readers! Rica Jewels has several marvelous metal and beaded bracelets for sale. Daniela received a bachelor’s degree in ...
