Flower Photo: Red Hibiscus Flowers

Before I retreated to the rocks and waterfalls of the mountains on an anniversary vacation last week, I took a late summer stroll around a friend's yard to photograph her garden. My favorite were the hibiscus flowers spilling over the back yard's gate. As you can tell, my camera doesn't cooperate with the color red, especially on sunny days. I feel like I captured a waking dream about the flowers instead of what they truly looked like, but the petals are pretty in any light. Please follow me on Instagram @aquariannart if you want to see a more realistic white hibiscus flower from the same yard that I'm posting later. Nature Photos: New Hampshire Waterfalls

Wondering where my Flower Friday photos were the last two weeks? My camera and I went chasing waterfalls with my husband instead. Neither of us had ever been to New Hampshire, so we decided to explore it for our third anniversary after finding a great deal at a ski resort in off-season. We were a bit unprepared to hike on the harder trails through the White Mountain National Forest, but there were still several waterfalls to see that were less than a mile walk from the road. And wow, were they all breathtaking! My three favorite, as shown above, were Sabbaday Falls, Jackson Falls and Silver Cascade. Handmade Trove: Butterfly Bracelet by HandeMadeIt

A beautiful butterfly bracelet migrated all the way from HandeMadeIt's studio in Istanbul to my jewelry collection in Delaware. The unique evil eye design is gold plated and tethered to a shiny chain that measures approximately 6.5 inches. Five neon colors are available, but I chose a bright pink butterfly because October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, is waiting in the wings. Don't let the chance to win 2 evil eye bracelets of choice flutter away from you! Enter Hande's Jewelry Giveaway before September 25, 2015. Disclaimer: I received this free bracelet as a thank you gift for hosting a jewelry giveaway. Jewelry Giveaway: Choice of Evil Eye Bracelets

EDIT: Giveaway is officially over. Congratulations to Marceline Judith for submitting the randomly-chosen 12th entry. Hande will email you soon with how to claim your free prize. They say two evil eye bracelets are better than one. No, wait, that's heads ... but the saying applies to so many things! You may remember Hande Uckaleler's cute jewelry from the Etsy giveaway I hosted for her last year. She's dreamt about having her own handmade shop since she was a kid, and now she has two! Her Turkish jewelry studio in Istanbul just launched a shiny new website. To celebrate, one lucky winner will get to choose two designs above from HandeMadeIt.com . Or if two bracelets aren't enough for you, she sells them in sets for baby showers, bridal parties and holiday gifts. Several shapes and colors are available to match any occasion. Since such events attract envy from foes, wearing an evil eye amulet could protect against negative energy while being an adorable accessory at...

Flower Photo: Sunflower Garden

The Mammoth Russian sunflowers in the garden at work may tower above these other sunflowers, but neither flower type is short on beauty! I'm sure several of you will agree, as I see I'm not the only photographer that's been stalking sunflowers this summer.
