"While the river of life glides along smoothly, it remains the same river; only the landscape on either bank seems to change."
- Max Müller

My dad's boss rented the River Queen for a dinner cruise down the Choptank River in appreciation of his employees and I got to devour the experience with them! Another boat left the Suicide Bridge Restaurant marina just before ours did, as shown in the first picture. Both boats are reproductions of authentic 80-foot turn-of-the-century paddle wheelers. Aren't the wheels amazing? I took a quick wheel video if you'd like to see them in action.

We were worried that a storm might cut the trip short, but the sun broke through the clouds just in time to give us a stunning sunset. Its bold light reflected through my dad's sunglasses in his silhouette shot. But he doesn't need real rose-colored glasses to make the memory more beautiful - the cruise couldn't have been better!

  12. Oh lovely!!! This makes me so homesick. My hometown does Sunset and Dinner cruises along the 1000 Islands here in Canada. It's so beautiful and such a wonderful way to spend an evening. The boats are paddle boats too -- so amazing.

  21. Very cool! We went on a historical paddle boat about four years ago. It was really fun! The crew was even dressed in period costumes and they sang songs and played a pipe organ. That sunset looks amazing! :)

Giveaway: Clear Quartz Dagger Earrings by WireQueen

EDIT: Giveaway is officially over! Congratulations to the randomly chosen 108th commenter, Andalene! Accessorize an outfit and rejuvenate your spirit at the same time! Michelle of WireQueen is bequeathing a beautiful pair of clear quartz earrings to one of my readers. The design is named "Midwife Healer" in honor of the midwife that delivered her second daughter. The four sided dagger beads are different lengths and embraced by sterling silver wrap with surgical steel earwires. She has already cleared the crystals, but if you ever need to recharge or remove unwanted energy, simply place in a window that is beaming with sunlight. Michelle believes that the Creator gave to all things a purpose, including gemstones. She covers as little of the "face" of the stone as possible, but still secures it safely in its setting. She has customers who are still wearing creations that are over 10 years old! She's been selling jewelry offline for years, but only recently began...
