WW: Striped Dogfish Shark at NC Aquarium

Striped Dogfish Shark Photo

"Sharks have everything a scientist dreams of. They're beautiful―God, how beautiful they are! They're like an impossibly perfect piece of machinery. They're as graceful as any bird. They're as mysterious as any animal on earth. No one knows for sure how long they live or what impulses―except for hunger―they respond to. There are more than two hundred and fifty species of shark, and every one is different from every other one."
- Peter Benchley

I may live only a few miles from the Dogfish Head Brewery, but it wasn't until I traveled all the way to the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island that I saw a real dogfish shark in person.

  1. We've had a few deaths from sharks off the coast here in Perth and there has been talk of shark culling. We had a huge protest at Cottesloe beach recently to try and stop this. I love your photo! Great capture.

Giveaway: Clear Quartz Dagger Earrings by WireQueen

EDIT: Giveaway is officially over! Congratulations to the randomly chosen 108th commenter, Andalene! Accessorize an outfit and rejuvenate your spirit at the same time! Michelle of WireQueen is bequeathing a beautiful pair of clear quartz earrings to one of my readers. The design is named "Midwife Healer" in honor of the midwife that delivered her second daughter. The four sided dagger beads are different lengths and embraced by sterling silver wrap with surgical steel earwires. She has already cleared the crystals, but if you ever need to recharge or remove unwanted energy, simply place in a window that is beaming with sunlight. Michelle believes that the Creator gave to all things a purpose, including gemstones. She covers as little of the "face" of the stone as possible, but still secures it safely in its setting.
