"Perhaps the old monks were right when they tried to root love out; perhaps the poets are right when they try to water it. It is a blood-red flower, with the color of sin; but there is always the scent of a god about it."
- Olive Schreiner
Ogre loves me so much that he bought me this beautiful bouquet of glittery flowers for my birthday! I was so intrigued by the focal flower that I had to ask around to find out what type it is and was told that the species is a red spider mum from the chrysanthemum genus.

We used to get bright yellow spider mums in the fall as corsages for our homecoming football game. I've never seen one in red and white. So gorgeous. I guess with most flowers now being grown in hot houses, you can get anything, any time of year. ReplyDeletethe study of brain shows that love is all in our head, we accept what we think will let us fall in love, and then the physiological response occurs. hormones and chemicals are released that make us feel better than any drug can let us feel. it's addictive. i have been in love, and it's great, but the let down is horrible. the blindfolds one wears is stifling. i choose not to fall in love so as not to have to go through the ups and downs and anxiety and thought patterns it can cause.
ReplyDeleteFantastic color! I hope you had a great birthday!
