    between the seed pods the beginning of the buds themselves, it always amazes me at how beautiful plants become. Faythe @ GMT

    Looks like a spiked helmet...maybe the top of an otherworldly head.

    Gramma 2 Many - it's a seed pod from a Sweetgum (Liquidambar styraciflua) tree. There are dozens hanging from the branches at my mom's house. Most people call them monkey balls, after they dry up and fall to the ground.
