This Saturday, September 18th, I shall be guiltlessly devouring a pulled pork sandwich from J/R's The Place for Ribs. I rarely order barbecue sandwiches, but there's a reason J/R's version is so famous - it's delicious! This particular lunch, which also includes a side of cole slaw, chips and a drink, will probably taste even better than usual, because the $10 spent on it will benefit Women Supporting Women, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide awareness, education and support to all those who are affected by breast cancer.
I've donated 20 of my breast cancer awareness fairy magnets to the cause. They're smaller and packaged more creatively than available online. I've enfolded them in plastic and tied both ends with pink ribbon. They remind me of giant taffy wrappers. If that thought has you craving a sweet treat - don't worry, there will be mounds of scrumptious baked goods available, including my mama's oatmeal raisin and chocolate chip bars. Join me and my sugar tooth at 11:30am in the J/R's parking lot on 131st Street and Coastal Highway in Ocean City, Maryland.
If that's a little far for you to travel and you'd still like to support the fundraiser by buying my fairy, I am also donating $5 from every purchase of the "Aware" 8x10 print in my Artfire shop.
