Blog Hops, Link Parties and Directories Galore

I am delighted to have discovered the wonderful world of blog hops, link parties and directories! Each is a great way to find fun blogs and also increase your own traffic and followers.

Blog Hops

To participate, most exchanges require that you post their button somewhere on your site and visit at least two others on the list. There are zillions of opportunities out there to spread the blog love! It's not kristinly possible to attend each one every week, but I've gallivanted with the ones below and will again. Invite me to your own blog hop by commenting on this entry and I'll gleefully add your recommendation to my social calendar!

Link Parties

Link parties are very similar to blog hops, except you share a specific blog post instead of linking up your blog's home page. Many of the parties are themed, so be sure to read the rules before participating!

Blog Directories

Blog directories allow an author to submit a blog to the category that best fits its overall theme. Votes, ratings or traffic usually determine the order the blogs appear when readers are browsing. I have been warned that submitting links to such websites may negatively affect a blog's ranking in search engines. I've also read that it can increase it. SEO is a tricky science that I'm just starting to learn. There are so many variables that contribute to the outcome of a keyword search. So I'm going to uphold the same philosophy with these types of sites as I do with my favorite foods and drinks that may or may not harm me in the long run - happily consume in moderation!

  11. Thanks for sharing this info. I love blog hopping, and I just started two of my own. One, Singing a New Song, runs from Thursday through Sunday. It works like other blog hops, but the blog that is voted most inspiring wins the award, and becomes the co-host/featured blog for the next week. My other blog is Monday's Musings.

Thanks for sharing the other information about linky parties and blog directories. All this is new to me, and the information is helpful.

Snowflake Blog Hop and Comment Spree

EDIT: The Winter 2012 Snowflake Blog Hop Linky may be closed, but don't let that stop you from blogging about snow and sharing it by commenting on this post. Or you can drift over to my current blog hop for a new theme. For my seasonal hop this winter, I challenge my fellow bloggers to bundle up and play in the snow. You can paint, craft or bake new creations to share, or feature your favorite snowflake-inspired items by other artists. It is entirely up to you how you wish to celebrate the chilly theme; just have fun floating about! This linky party will keep flurrying until melted by another challenge near the spring equinox, so you have plenty of time to participate. Giveaway: Clear Quartz Dagger Earrings by WireQueen

EDIT: Giveaway is officially over! Congratulations to the randomly chosen 108th commenter, Andalene! Accessorize an outfit and rejuvenate your spirit at the same time! Michelle of WireQueen is bequeathing a beautiful pair of clear quartz earrings to one of my readers. The design is named "Midwife Healer" in honor of the midwife that delivered her second daughter. The four sided dagger beads are different lengths and embraced by sterling silver wrap with surgical steel earwires. She has already cleared the crystals, but if you ever need to recharge or remove unwanted energy, simply place in a window that is beaming with sunlight. Michelle believes that the Creator gave to all things a purpose, including gemstones. She covers as little of the "face" of the stone as possible, but still secures it safely in its setting. She has customers who are still wearing creations that are over 10 years old! She's been selling jewelry offline for years, but only recently began...
