Get in the Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Treasuries

October is still a few days away, but many Etsyians are already busy getting the word out about Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Elizabeth of Foret ... Emporium of the Unique , Amie of A&R Design Studio , and the creative collaborative over at Leaf + Ink have all curated fabulously pink treasuries that include my Aware fairy magnet. And wow, I found over 40 more results when searching Etsy treasuries for the phrase breast cancer awareness ! It's uplifting to see so many talented souls creating handmade goods and raising money for a great cause. For those in the Delmarva area, you can still buy the magnets I donated to J/R's 2nd annual fundraiser at the Women Supporting Women office in Berlin, Maryland. I also donate $5 from every purchase of the Aware 8x10 print in my Artfire shop.

Friday Finds, Upcycled Style: T-shirt Totes and Bags

Tomorrow I shall be rising early in a zombie stupor to sell heaps of clothes, VHS tapes and trinkets at Relay for Life's Long Neck Yard Sale. Last year, I finally talked myself into letting a few of my favorite baby doll tees from my teenage years free from the dark recesses of my bureau. I'd been nostalgically hoarding them away with aspirations of adding interesting fabric to the bottom of them so my belly didn't show when I raised my arms, or patching the cute faces of Strawberry Shortcake, Rainbow Brite and Eeyore onto decorative pillows. The problem is I don't know how to sew and I'm too easily distracted by images on shiny screens to learn. So I practically gave the shirts away at the last yard sale to shorter girls with less curves. I braved my closet today for items I no longer wear and was faced with the same dilemma. Will I regret giving away another beloved shirt I could have transformed into something useful? Or be ecstatic that the next time I'm tem...

September Glow Treasury

A pink haze coated the world during my drive home from work tonight. Just before the sun dripped entirely below the horizon, the moon was illuminated in an orange creamsicle glow. Gingeraly has managed to capture the essence of September skies. My Sunset unicorn bookmark blends softly into her splendid collection.

Work in Progress: Sycamore Fairy

Merry Autumnal Equinox! Many fae shall be fluttering about the wilderness tonight, toasting to the arrival of fall with spiced rum apple cider and biscotti. I hope to hunt down a bottle of pumpkin liqueur to recreate an amazingly delicious pumpkin pie shot I tasted at a bar a couple weekends ago. I've drawn a new fairy to celebrate the change in season. She's already been inked with black Sakura Pigma Micron Pens . I cannot wait to dust off my Prismacolor pencils and bestow upon her the vibrant autumn colors she deserves.

Simply Pink Treasury

Lakshmi of DoodleKreations is raising a glass to the color pink in this softly pretty collection. My Aware fairy agrees that pink is the way to go, especially with October, National Breast Cancer Awareness month, just around the bend. "Pink - 'cause you are so very Pink - it's the color of passion Ah, 'cause today it just goes with the fashion" -Aerosmith

Enjoy lunch at J/R's during breast cancer fundraiser

This Saturday, September 18th, I shall be guiltlessly devouring a pulled pork sandwich from J/R's The Place for Ribs . I rarely order barbecue sandwiches, but there's a reason J/R's version is so famous - it's delicious! This particular lunch, which also includes a side of cole slaw, chips and a drink, will probably taste even better than usual, because the $10 spent on it will benefit Women Supporting Women , a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide awareness, education and support to all those who are affected by breast cancer. I've donated 20 of my breast cancer awareness fairy magnets to the cause. They're smaller and packaged more creatively than available online. I've enfolded them in plastic and tied both ends with pink ribbon. They remind me of giant taffy wrappers. If that thought has you craving a sweet treat - don't worry, there will be mounds of scrumptious baked goods available, including my mama's oatmeal raisin and choco...

Follow the leader to Fuzzington!

Another month, another 100 blog follower goal met! Thank you so much to every pair of googly eyes that reads my whimsical ramblings. I've been having so much fun blogging these past few months. It's especially exciting to receive your comments - they prove I'm not just talking to myself about the pretty lights. My 300th blog follower didn't have a website linked in their profile, so I turned to the magical random.org top hat for a follower to feature. The fluffy rabbit I pulled out was Fuzzington, my 287th blog follower! And no, I hadn't known pipe cleaners could be so cute. Can you believe she twists and bends the fuzzy wire into those adorable creatures without using any glue?!

Friday Finds, FAE Style: Fairy Houses and Doors

I'm so enchanted by the The Fairy Sand Project this week that I couldn't resist searching for handmade fairy houses crafted by my fellow Fantasy Artists of Etsy . Not only did I find homes fit for a Sidhe - I also discovered the cutest miniature furniture and even tiny doors that create instant portals into the fantasy realm. Wouldn't it be splendid to be a fairy and be able to purchase your household accessories at such low prices? 1. Pink Fairy Butterfly Garden House by The Enchanted Garden 2. Help heal the Gulf, support The Fairy Sand Project

A glimmering handful of Lewes Beach is making its journey across the country to the Enchanted World of Fairy Woodland in Oregon. During the Fall Equinox on September 22, it will be gathered together with sand from other faraway places in an energy blessing ritual. Then five fairy houses, one to comfort each of the Gulf states, will be constructed by October 22, the next full moon. For those unfamiliar with fairy houses, here's a description from the artists - "We build small houses made of natural materials like twigs and stone and sand for the homes and gardens of mortals who want to invite these mystical creatures to come and live with them. These miniature houses are not just craft projects – they are alchemical art, designed to engage the mythic imagination and open a gateway for communication with the life energies that inhabit forests and streams, caves, trees, flowers – all of the natural world." Sounds wonderful, right? If you'd like the healing power of your...

Which one of you scared Marvin? Treasury

Heather of Niftyknits demands to know who frightened Marvin the Amigurumi Monkey from Cute Designs . I hope it wasn't my dragon! He may look stern, but just ask his best friend, the damsel - he would never lay a talon on an innocent creature! Especially not one so sqeezingly cute.

Friday Finds, Berry Style: Strawberry Shortcake Treats

Last week's X-Men Friday Finds theme was in anticipation of frolicking about at Baltimore Comic-Con. True to my thrifty mutation, I picked many X-Men comic books from $.25 and $1 bins. I even splurged a blueberry bit and bought Uncanny X-Men #350 for $10. *pets shiny foil cover* I had been waiting to read the trial of Gambit for years, and devoured it as soon as we reached our hotel room Saturday night. Sunday I stumbled upon an even more delicious comic book - Strawberry Shortcake's Great Pie-Baking Contest! It was printed in April 1985, when I was only three years old. I still have the original dolls from my childhood, and even snagged the entire 80's cartoon series on VHS off eBay several years ago. In the afterglow of adding this sweet book to my collection, today's handmade finds from Etsy are devoted to Strawberry Shortcake and her berry friends. 1. Strawberry Shortcake Doll by BoriDolls Creations 2. Strawberry Shortcake Travel Crayon Holder by Crafts By Nancy ...

Happy September! It is still blistering hot in Delaware, but this new Fantasy Artists of Etsy exhibition comforts me with the brewing arrival of cooler weather and vibrantly changing leaves. Autumn is so close that I can almost taste the apple cider and pumpkin desserts! Etsy Buy Handmade FAEteam
